To protect yourself from injury, carefully read the following safety information and warnings before you install or attempt to repair your Ideal door.

Before you begin work, carefully read all instructions. If you do not completely understand the installation instructions or are unsure if the replacement component matches the part being replaced, please stop and contact a professional installer.

Ideal Door® garage doors use springs under tension to counterbalance the load. The counterbalance may be provided by a torsion spring assembly or an extension spring assembly. Attempting to remove the applicable spring assembly and/or any red colored fasteners without proper training or tools may result in an uncontrolled release of spring forces which can cause serious or fatal injury.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION IS RECOMMENDED.

Hardware in this maintenance kit is intended for residential garage doors only.

EACH OF THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS MUST BE READ AND STRICTLY FOLLOWED PRIOR TO INSTALLING YOUR GARAGE DOOR MAINTENANCE KIT. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS OR FATAL INJURIES.

DO NOT proceed if you do not have the proper tools and a reasonable mechanical aptitude or experience.

DO NOT replace any hardware before removing tension from the spring assembly, and only remove tension according to these instructions.

DO NOT use any substitutes for the hardware specified and supplied.

DO NOT attempt to loosen any bracket fasteners and/or any red colored fasteners except when and as directed in detail in the following instructions. Otherwise, the components bracket could suddenly release spring forces with dangerous force and risk severe injury.

DO NOT attempt to remove all hardware from your garage door prior to reinstalling the replacement hardware. Hardware should be replaced one component of hardware at a time.

DO NOT attempt to loosen any fasteners on spring or cable components. You could suddenly release spring forces with dangerous force and risk severe injury.

DO NOT try to remove or repair a spring assembly or any red colored fasteners once the spring assembly is wound. You could suddenly release spring forces with dangerous force and risk severe injury.

DO NOT use screwdrivers or any substitutes for solid steel winding bars when installing a door with torsion springs. Use of substitutes for solid steel winding bars may result in sudden release of spring forces with dangerous force and will risk severe injury.

DO NOT attempt to raise or lower the door without all components installed securely.

DO NOT attempt to lift or lower doors with extension spring assemblies alone. Use two or more helpers to lower and raise the door as muscle stress, muscle damage, bone fracture, pinching, crushing, or amputation will result. Mechanical assistance may be required for large doors. Keep hands and fingers clear of the door section joints and bottom of the door during closing as finger pinch, crush or amputation will result.

DO NOT place hands or fingers in the door section joints, track or any other door parts when the door is opening and closing as finger pinch, crush or amputation will result.

DO NOT permit children to play beneath or with any Ideal Door garage door.

DO review all warnings on the door. If warnings are missing, please contact your professional installer. For assistance with these maintenance steps, repair or replacement of any parts, please contact your professional installer.

DO use proper tools and safety equipment.

DO contact a professional installer if you do not completely understand these instructions or are uncomfortable performing any of the tasks described in these instructions.

DO disengage any automatic door opener from the garage door before beginning work.

DO disable all locks and remove all ropes connected to a door before installing an operator.

DO save all installation and maintenance manuals.
